The Milan Mission
- There is a Part Zero to this, but in a nod to brevity, I’ll start from the practical steps.
- I wanted to make a film that moved from 360 to CGI. I wanted to tell a story. I wanted to throw everything and the kitchen sink at it.
- After writing several treatments, I needed to assemble the team.
- First a Unity wizard. I wanted to use Unity 3D as a key tool for creating this film. It’s the Avid, Premiere Pro, Final Cut of immersive experiences. It’s quite complicated.
- I found OliVR. He’d been working on VR since 2003 – yeah…2003 – he was a great guy and a serious VR geek.
- We both had beards which looked quite similar to the portrait of Dostoyevsky he had on the wall.
- He lived in Milan and I headed over to hammer out the CGI sequences and eat pizza.
